avocado day

We don't usually have avocados so it was a treat for us when Brian's father gave us a bag of 5 of these alligator pears. I knew I had to make them into guacamole. We love it besides hummus, right Brian?

Made during lunchtime today,

my version of guacamole is made of

4 avocados
4-5 tbspn lime juice
3 stalks spring onions (only green part is used), diced
1/2 tspn cumin powder
1 tspn chilli sauce
dash of pepper
dash of salt

Avocados are mashed using a fork and the seasoning mixed together. The quantity of the seasoning used are sort of a thereabout as I tasted and added them as I went along. I keep it in a glass casserole (bowl, if you have one) with a pit or two thrown in to slow down oxidization, cling wrapped the top and put it in the refrigerator for it's best eaten chilled.. with chips and chilled cucumber strips. I know a bag of chips will be eaten up tonight, hopefully with a movie on tv (if it isn't blackout night).

I kept one avocado for Kaeden's consumption. It wasn't my intention to feed him avocado as his first semi-solid food. I wanted to start with rice cereal but since I have read about the goodness of avocado, I decided to let him have a go at it. I had sieved the mashed fruit and added a little breastmilk to it to make it into a softer consistency. The rest of the fruit I kept it in reusable freezer friendly containers for the next few meals.

Kaeden took to his first semi-solid food surprisingly well!

on the "garden"

Most of the photos taken on my camera were of little Kaeden nowadays and I found this to be one of my favourites in the recent batch. He was spending some tummy time on the quilt I made sometime back.
