Hoot!

On Sunday, we received a portion of a chocolate cake from our auntie's family (the one living just across us) and later learn that it was the daughter, Yoshi's birthday. If I have my way, I would love to hand make my gifts and so yesterday, I did an owl purse as a belated present. It was my favourite and a quick project to do. This purse is lined with pink cotton and comes with a purple vintage metal zip. I wonder why I haven't make one for myself yet.

one handle

Inspired by the designs of bags shown in my latest Japanese craft magazine (Spring edition, vol.26) in that particular page, I decided to make 2 as birthday gifts. Aren't those fairy tale prints on those fabric shown in the mag cute? I had to look through my fabric pile and find something suitable for making the bags. It was a tough time.

I had to admit I couldn't find the pattern in the mag. It was such a maze, looking at those lines on the pattern sheet. So I came up with the measurements of my own.

The one on the left is for Kaeden's little girl cousin and the right, for his aunt. Both who share the same birth date.

to satisfy that craving

The idea of baking m & m's cookies came to me recently. I have to bake them because there is really no option of me buying them here in Palembang. The craving of eating those cookies came real strong after finding the recipe online here and I had to bake them today.

Dear Brian ran around town to help me get all the ingredients and I'm glad the cookies turned out the way they are supposed to, considering it was my first attempt at baking. It was really fun, borrowing the mixer and oven at our auntie's place which is directly across us and having her babysit Kaeden while I watched over the oven.

The satisfaction of baking my first batch of cookies and seeing them sitting in an air tight container is really great.

want to go out more

Our baby carrier arrived in the mail about a week ago. I was so happy to receive it as I find that a carrier helps me move around more conveniently with Kaeden on me. It helps especially when we have to go to the supermarket and a stroller would have been more of a hassle.

Owning a carrier makes me want to get out of home more often. But trips are limited to supermarkets for now as there are so few options of places which are baby friendly that we can visit in Palembang.

blanket

My sewing machine returned from servicing and well, it seems that the zig zag function is working okay. But it sounded a bit more 'clackety' than usual and when I was sewing the blanket for Kaeden earlier, I was glad the racket from the machine didn't wake him up from his morning nap.
